c) If one has a tall Menorah that when standing on the ground the lights are over ten Tefachim high, can it be used Lechatchila (on the onset)?
A. Minchas Yitzchok (6: 65: 2) deals with the Shaila as the Menorah of the Beis Hamikdosh was also over ten Tefachim. Hisorerus Teshuva (1: 42) maintains that there is Hiddur Mitzva or desirable special beauty in a tall Menorah. Nitei Gavriel quotes many great Tzadikim that used tall Menoras in their homes.
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that one should follow his family traditions.
