Q. Dear Rov, As Chanuka approaches I have a number of Shailos and questions regarding lighting the Menorah.
a) When lights, as we most do by the front window facing the street, and the window covers most of the front of the house. Does one light by the corner of the right corner of the window or maybe at the centre?
A. Poskim write that since there is no Mezuza involved in the window, one should preferable light at his right. (See Nitei Gavriel 15: 7 quoting Mahartza). However, since the most important issue involved is ‘Pirsumei Nissa’ or that people in the street should see the lights, if the middle is better, one should light there.
